The philanthropy committee is excited about the upcoming year. We look forward to helping our neighbors by continuing Hearts and Flowers, connecting with local elderly through our Jenks Center playgroup, supporting the WNC Avon Walk for Breast Cancer team and finding new ways to improve our communities and the people who live in them.

Last year, we raised $3,000 for the Children's Room at the Library, delivered over 100 meals to WNC members in need, raised $500 for the renovation of the Sanborn House and donated over $100,000 to the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer. If you're interested in joining the team or have a great idea, please give Trintje Gnazzo a call at 781-721-6117.

hearts and flowers

We should never underestimate the value of a phone call, a home-cooked meal, a handwritten-note, or a visit from a friend. WNC is proud to continue Hearts and Flowers this year in an effort to reach out to WNC members and their friends and family in need. Interested in a small way to help another? Join the hearts and flowers email list. Did you know that hearts and flowers volunteers made over 50 meals for other members last year?

If you would like to volunteer to provide a meal, handwritten note, flowers or a simple phone call to a member in need OR to a new resident to Winchester, please email Mary Ellen Falvey at maryellenandpeter@verizon.net. When she hears of an event (new baby, sick family member or a new neighbor to welcome to Winchester) she will send out an email to the volunteers and anyone who has time can participate. Thank you to all those who have provided help in the past!
